GameStop Crop. (GME) 🎮

GME is a video game retailer that sells electronics and merchandise. I remember many kids used to go to GME to trade in their old games and buy new ones. GME would buy back games from their customers for what felt like $0.01 just to put it on the shelf and sell it used for $25 that same day 😂. Unfortunately for them, I knew this was not a good deal so I never sold my used games to them 😉. Recently, this stock became popular in the news due to it experiencing a "short squeeze". Explained simply, institutions executed trades and attempted to lower the price of GME to profit off of the decline. Instead, retail investors got together to buy many shares of GME, increasing the stock's price and forcing institutions to buy shares at a loss to cover themselves. All of this extreme buying caused GME to skyrocket. Although many investors made a quick buck, many also lost lots of money. To show you why we don't believe it is wise to invest in GME, let's check out their fundamentals!

GameStop Corp. (GME) Max Chart (Yahoo Finance)

The reason GME skyrocketed was due to a short squeeze mentioned above. It has since continued to be overvalued and volatile. Before this event, we can see that this stock was trading for just a few dollars. It went to a high of $325 per share to a now $202 per share. Imagine buying just 1 share of GME at its peak. You would've been down $123 to date. Had you bought 100 shares, you would've been down $12,300 to date. We see that GME does not have increasing annual top-line revenue. In fact, their annual top line revenue has consistently decreased for the past few years. GME has also delivered 2 misses during their last 4 earnings. Always do your own due diligence and be careful with these meme stocks. Stay educated and disciplined.
