Do you have a side hustle yet?

Maybe you’ve been thinking about getting extra cash so you can get ahead financially. Or maybe you just want to comfortably pay your bills.

No matter what your reason is, having a side hustle or two can play a crucial role in your financial goals.

So, today we’re talking about 9 side hustle ideas that you can start in 2022.

I’ll break down how much you can make on average with each side hustle, how difficult or easy it is to start.

So, let’s dive in!

Number one on our list is watching videos. Many people are looking for a passive way to make a few extra bucks. And this is a popular one because of how easy it is. And the reason this sounds too good to be true is because it doesn’t pay a whole lot of money, but it can get the job done if you just want some extra cash to invest in your Roth IRA every month.

People have reported to make about $225 per month participating in these programs. It may not sound like much, but if you work from home or if you have any extra time at the end of the day, this may be an absolute steal for you.

To get started with this side hustle you’ll have to sign up for programs like Mypoints, Swagbucks, or Inbox Dollars. I highly recommend you do some extra research to see which program is best for you because some offer opportunities to take surveys or plays video games.

The second side hustle on our list is to write an e-book. Amazon Kindle Direct Publishing has made it easier for anyone to write and publish a book.

With Amazon Direct Publishing, you earn 70% of every book you sell from $2.99 - $9.99. But you earn 35% of every book you sell that’s over $10. So, it’s up to you to decide how you want to strategize your pricing. This can be an absolute win for you if you just continue to market your book. And if you think about it, you can literally market your book for the rest of your life and earn sales as long as your book is on Amazon.

This side hustle isn’t too difficult as long as you have some time to write. You also don’t have to go through a publishing company or work around any deadlines since you have Amazon Direct Publishing to publish the book for you. All you need is something to write about which can include things like cookbooks, how-to guides, children’s books, or anything you want to contribute to the world!

Number three on our list is “advertising your car.”

Okay, if you’ve done any research on side hustles, odds are you’ve heard someone recommend driving for Uber or Postmates. Or maybe you’ve heard of Turo, the app that let’s you rent out your car. Or maybe you just drive alot throughout the week for work or whatever.

The point is, if your car is on the road alot, you might really appreciate this side hustle. Because now with services like Carvertise or Wrapify, you can get paid to have ads on your car for a designated amount of time.

On average you can make anywhere from $100 - $1,500 per month from this gig. But it’s also important to note that these rates vary depending on the campaign you are assigned with.

This side hustle is relatively easy to get in to as long as you drive at least 30 miles per day on average, have a car made after 2008, and don’t mind if your car has a bunch of ads all over it.

Number four on our list is online tutoring.

Odds are there is something that you know, that someone younger or less experienced than you might need. If you’re in high school, college or if you’ve graduated and you’re confident about your knowledge on a subject, you can tutor someone younger than you in a class you have experience in.

Online tutors can make anywhere from about $20-$60 per hour.

And with the help of the internet, online tutoring can be just as effective as in-person tutoring. As long as you have internet access and a subject you’re confident in teaching, you can make this gig work for you. You can use Google hangouts, Zoom, or Kaltura to meet with your students. And you can use social media, Google, or business cards to advertise your services.

For number 5, we have selling other people’s things.

Your profits can vary from a couple extra bucks in your pocket to a couple thousand dollars. Ryan Pineda, the real estate social media influencer once said that he was consistently making $8,000 a month from just buying and selling couches.

Starting this side hustle is easy as it gets. You can sell your “junk” in your house or you can go to stores an actually flip products.

You can go on Facebook marketplace and check the “FREE” tab to see if people are giving away free furniture or anything that you can sell for a higher price.

Or you can go to Goodwill, garage sales, or ask your friends and family if they have any junk you can sell. Then of course, you hop on to an online marketplace like ebay, Facebook market and sell your products for a profit. The only limit to this side hustle is your extra time and your own creativity!

Number 6 is writing for content creators.

There are plenty of opportunities to write for content creators because of the internet. There are dozens of different types of content creators ranging from financial coaches, to doctors, lawyers, dentists, or even chefs.

Content creators often need help writing scripts, blogs, social media posts, website content, or transcribing podcasts or videos.

As a content creator you can expect to make anywhere from about $15 - $50 per hour.

If you like to write then this gig can be a really fun one for you. But the only barrier of entry would be a specific subject you feel comfortable writing about. A “niche” if you will. But odds are, if you have some life experience, you have a niche you can target. And you can always research a subject you want to learn more about to get started. Once you’ve chosen a subject, you can write some sample pieces and post them on a free blogging site like medium.com or your own website. Then you can find creators to work for and message them or find someone who needs your help on Fiverr or Upwork.

Next, we have growing a social media following.

Do you still think Tik-Tok is only for dancing videos? Well growing a social media following can actually be a lucrative side gig these days.

Today, you can create content on any subject through Tik-Tok, Instagram, or Youtube and you can be sponsored by various brands.

Depending on how many followers you have, you can expect to make around $80 - $700 per post as a social media influencer.

And don’t think that you’re limited to only promoting products like makeup or gym clothes. You can create content about literally any subject you’re interested in and odds are there is a company in your niche that would love to sponsor you. On Tik-Tok for example you can simply make videos about your knowledge on how to build a PC and companies can hit you up to promote their products if they see you have a large following.

Or maybe you’ve worked in marketing for a few years and you use alot of different softwares at work. Then you can potentially partner with companies to review their software and share it with the rest of the world.

This side hustle can be an extremely fun one for you especially if you’re creating content on something you’re passionate about.

Number 8 on our list is becoming a real estate agent.

Being a real estate agent has been a popular side hustle for decades now. But you rarely hear anyone talk about it on social media. The cool part is that you don’t have to commit a full time schedule to become a real estate agent.

The average salary of a real estate agency is about $38,000 - $120,000 per year. Your income will vary depending on the price of houses you represent and how much you advertise your services.

To become a real estate agent, you’ll just have to get your real estate license in your state, join a brokerage, and advertise yourself.

Don’t get me wrong though. Being a successful real estate agent takes time and hard work. But you can also work passively as a real estate agent and still make some money on the side just from representing a buyer or seller a few times throughout the year. Many agents who use this as a side gig just represent their friends and family and don’t spend too much time and money advertising themselves.

In general, real estate can be lucrative as heck if you really excel in your field. And you aren’t limited to just being an agent. Once you open the door for yourself, you can become a real estate agent for high end properties, you can flip houses, or even invest in rental properties. With real estate, the possibilities really are endless!

And last but not least on our list is my favorite side hustle - selling covered calls.

Selling covered calls can be a confusing subject so I’ll use a story to make things easier for everyone. Just like we used to do in math class!

So you have a rare Pokemon card worth $500. This guy John wants to buy the card from you because he thinks the card will be worth more in the future. But John can’t afford $500 right now. So instead, he pays you a $20 deposit and in exchange, you promise not to sell it to anyone else. Then you finally meet John at Starbucks and he pays you the full $500 for the card. However, if John changes his mind and decides not to buy the card anymore, you still get to keep the initial $20. And boom. That’s the idea of selling covered calls.

You can make a couple hundred dollars per month when you’re first starting out with selling covered calls. But over time you can make a couple thousand dollars per month and maybe even replace your full time income!

That being said, options trading can be difficult to begin if you have no guidance. But, it can be lucrative with some practice.

To start selling covered calls, you’ll first need time to teach yourself through courses, Youtube videos, blogs, or books. You can checkout my channel to see my other videos where I dive deeper into all the nitty gritty stuff. And you can also checkout my website at calltoleap.com to take my free course and check out my e-book!

Because of the internet, there are countless side hustles you can start. Which means you have the freedom to choose something that is flexible and enjoyable for you.

There are some side hustles out there that can eventually turn into a full time living if that’s what you want.

At the end of the day, looking for a suitable side hustle is part of the hustle. Don’t worry if you start something and find out that you don’t like it later on. Remember, your side hustle is supposed to add something to your life. So, take your time finding that thing!
