Facebook's Facelift 👍
In efforts to rebrand and create a new vision for the company, Facebook Inc. changed their name to "Meta". The company wants to create is a virtual reality (Metaverse) that revolutionizes social media. How exciting!...Or scary?
MSFT 🥇
Microsoft became the world's most valuable public company, surpassing AAPL. MSFT's stock soared after beating earnings. AAPL on the other hand delivered their first sales "miss" since mid-2017 which sent their stock tumbling down.
Buybacks 🤔
The Biden administration's latest proposal is a 1% surcharge on corporate buybacks in order to fund their social spending and climate package. A buyback is when a company purchases their own shares to decrease the amount of outstanding shares. With a surcharge in place, companies may be hesitant to do buybacks.
